The Sudbury Regional Seismic Network, SRSN, is a set of twenty-five short period seismographs distributed around the Sudbury Mining District, in Ontario, Canada.

The network started operation and has maintained a complete seismic record since 2008. The project was originally organized by CAMIRO (the Canadian Mining Industry Research Organization), Itasca Consulting Canada Inc. and Laurentian University School of Engineering.

Corporate sponsors of the SRSN are KGHM International - FNX Mining Company Inc., Vale Ltd. and Glencore Canada. The Rainbow District School Board is gratefully acknowledged for their support in providing sites for four of the sensors.

In 2018, CAMIRO made a significant donation to Laurentian University to support the SRSN. This donation will provide funding for future graduate student research with the data collected by the SRSN.

The SRSN is operated and maintained jointly between Laurentian University and the Australian Centre for Geomechanics. The seismic system monitors all corners of the Sudbury basis, providing the location and magnitude of mining-induced seismic events from the eleven currently operating mines.

The SRSN also provides data for research into trends in mining-induced macroseismic events. For more information about the SRSN, please contact Marty Hudyma, Associate Professor at Laurentian University.
